Obscurity of DC Presents: Obscure Book Club, Week 110 (May 19-May 25) --- LISA JENNINGS (Pt. 2)!

Why hello there, @ObscurityofDCClub and other members of the DC Community! Welcome to Week 110 of Obscurity of DC’s Obscure Book Club! This week, we’ll be concluding a two-week focus on…

Number of Issues: 7 (Please only read issues 708-714)

Description from dc.fandom.com: Originally, she was a school teacher who found a sunstone which endowed her with Kryptonian superpowers. At first, Jennings was an enemy of Superman, but in the end, she reformed and decided to use her powers for good.

Now that that’s over with, here are some discussion questions:

  1. Why do you think Lisa made herself an enemy of Wonder Woman, too?
  2. At the end of issue 108, we see Lisa’s eyes again. However, in contrast to the previous issues, Lisa’s eyes were completely black this time. What do you think this pitch blackness represented? Explain.
  3. In issue 711, we learn that the Sunstone shows Superman’s tragedies. How do you think Lisa uses that power to her advantage? How do Superman’s tragedies relate to Lisa?
  4. Superman: Grounded is about Superman’s road to self-discovery. However, Superman wasn’t the only one discovering himself. In what ways did Lisa Jennings discover more about herself?
  5. Did you see the plot twist that Lisa is actually Superwoman coming? Did you enjoy it? Explain.
