Knightfall and Death of Superman was my go to comics in the 90s also the amalgam DC / Marvel crossover comics…

Oh wow, yeah, Knightfall! I think that was the first “event” I followed. But it doesn’t fit the criteria exactly because it WAS the big moment in my life! I also remember the launch of Image Comics very vividly. It was an exciting time for a comics fan, despite most of the comics being bad.
