That’s a pretty blanket statement. To effectively ‘deconstruct’ a character, it’s helpful to understand how the character has been constructed in the first place. It’d be nice if the author had some respect and admiration for what’s gone before. That doesn’t seem to be the case here. Adam Strange, war hero/criminal doesn’t resonate with the character or his history. King is telling a John Carter story, not an Adam Strange story.
The only time Adam Strange was ‘deconstructed’ in a manner that works is the mini from the 90’s.
