This Week’s Theme: Swamp Thing

This week’s mixtape is a special one to pay tribute to our long time admin, @Alec.Holland, who did so much to help keep this Community amazing and is already missed. Share any songs that you think would be on the ultimate Alec Holland playlist (either the fictional character or the real life DCUI admin hero), below!

This seems like one of the perfect songs to start things off:

Due to the high volume of submissions and the limited number of hours in a day, we’ll be selecting two songs from each member, but feel free to share as many as you like!

:headphones: Curious what Mixtape Monday is? :headphones:
Every week, we’ll post the title of our latest Mixtape, and you post tracks of your choice in the comments below! We’ll follow up next Mixtape Monday with the list of tunes, two from each user, collected from the week before. And if our “What’s the Last Song You Heard?” thread is any indication, you all have superb taste in tunes!

For our hardcore music lovers, we suggest joining Inky’s Mixtape Mob , a group created to bring all music lovers together in one place. Joining Inky’s Mixtape Mob will make sure you get notified of every playlist update, as well as offer you a custom flair and title to show off your maestro-dom!

While lyrics must abide to Forum Guidelines , the songs can be anything, of any genre, as long as it meets each week’s theme!

For some reason when I think of Swamp Thing, I think of CCR! So my first song is “Born on the Bayou” by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Next up is “Swamp Blues” by Fletcher Henderson

Once again, I’m playing it excessively on the nose with zero regrets

And a couple of “one state off” jams, but still delights

Not even sure I wanted to include this, (McLaren is a terrible human being) but posting for the Swampie content

That is a great song and Jerry Reed is a great performer!

I’ve always enjoyed it! I need to listen to him a lot more, actually. And about one hundred other artists.

“Hands All Over” by Soundgarden

“Earth Song” by Michael Jackson

“Don’t Go Near the Water” by The Beach Boys (“Don’t Go Near the Water” by Johnny Cash also works)

I’m always happy to see Johnny Cash on a playlist. I feel like a lot of his songs would work well for Swamp Thing, since many of them have a lot of melancholy.
