**This Week's Theme: Naomi!** =

I can think of few better ways to start a new year than having a totally new TV series to watch, so I’m very excited that Naomi is debuting on The CW tomorrow. I’m not the only one looking forward to this series, so today’s mixtape is going to be all about Naomi! What songs do you think would fill her playlist? Share your choices with us, below!

Since this song was playing in my mind while reading the comic, thanks to the quiet town Naomi lives in, I’ll start things off with this:

Due to the high volume of submissions and the limited number of hours in a day, we’ll be selecting two songs from each member, but feel free to share as many as you like!

:headphones: Curious what Mixtape Monday is? :headphones:
Every week, we’ll post the title of our latest Mixtape, and you post tracks of your choice in the comments below! We’ll follow up next Mixtape Monday with the list of tunes, two from each user, collected from the week before. And if our “What’s the Last Song You Heard?” thread is any indication, you all have superb taste in tunes!

For our hardcore music lovers, we suggest joining Inky’s Mixtape Mob , a group created to bring all music lovers together in one place. Joining Inky’s Mixtape Mob will make sure you get notified of every playlist update, as well as offer you a custom flair and title to show off your maestro-dom!

While lyrics must abide to Forum Guidelines , the songs can be anything, of any genre, as long as it meets each week’s theme!

I think this song is emo enough for a teen but also rocking enough for a superhero so I think it’s a good fit for Naomi plus the theme is right on point for her!

Lyrics:
When I was a young boy, my father
Took me into the city to see a marching band
He said, “Son, when you grow up would you be
The savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them? Your demons
And all the non-believers, the plans that they have made?
Because one day, I’ll leave you a phantom
To lead you in the summer to join the black parade
”
When I was a young boy, my father
Took me into the city to see a marching band
He said, “Son, when you grow up would you be
The savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?”

Sometimes I get the feeling she’s watching over me
And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets
And when you’re gone, we want you all to know

We’ll carry on, we’ll carry on, and though you’re
Dead and gone, believe me, your memory will carry on
We’ll carry on,and in my heart I can’t contain it
The anthem won’t explain it

A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back, let’s shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call

To carry on, we’ll carry on, and though you’re
Dead and gone, believe me, your memory will carry on
We’ll carry on,and though you’re broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches

On and on, we carry through the fears (Oh, oh, oh)
Disappointed faces of your peers(Oh, oh, oh)
Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all

Do or die, you’ll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you’ll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won’t explain or say I’m sorry
I’m unashamed, I’m gonna show my scars
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it’s who we are
I’m just a man, I’m not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I’m just a man, I’m not a hero
I don’t care!

We’ll carry on, we’ll carry on, and though you’re
Dead and gone, believe me, your memory will carry on
We’ll carry on,and though you’re broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches

Do or die, you’ll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you’ll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part(We’ll carry on!)
Do or die, you’ll never make me(We’ll carry on!)
Because the world will never take my heart(We’ll carry on!)
Go and try, you’ll never break me(We’ll carry-)
We want it all, we wanna play this part(We’ll carry on

I’ve got to go with the song that was written as a tribute to her namesake:

And every child raised in the PNW has Sleater-Kinner in their soul. Regardless of their dimension of origin. Obvs.

Bonus Oregon themed tune dump:

I’ll also add to the generic “superhero” tunes with one of my faves

And back again after seeing the pilot for Naomi and this song came to mind. :sunglasses:

And these will just be bonus songs for how much of a Superman fan Naomi is. :superman_hv_3:

This is shaping up to be an exciting variety. I read the first issue of Naomi when it released and liked it, but fell behind. I’m having fun catching up now, and am looking forward to watching the series.
