Of we’re talking crooners for Constantine, my first choice is Warren Zevon. I can think of at least three tracks off the album he finished in his final days, “Life 'll Kill Ya,” that would fit John. One of which I can’t bring up because even the title would violate community guidelines. But the track “For My Next Trick I’ll Need a Volunteer,” definitely feels like Constantine.
No “Werewolves of London”?

Jodorowsky, neat!
Love those picks, especially Joni Mitchell.
Thanks!
Got any cuts for John?
@Razzzcat @LDFM Big fan of PMJ. They were the last band I saw live actually. Got to meet a few of them after the show. I was particularly excited to meet Robyn Adele Anderson.
Well I’m jealous, I actually found out about them through her. She “broke off” and started doing solo stuff, that cover of “Chop Suey” by System of a Down blew my mind! It seems like it’d be a fun show, they are on my to see list… I just miss concerts.
I think John Constantine would laugh at the idea of being a hero. He just is what he is. Like it, hate it or shove it.
————————
I don’t care - The Ramones
No one is innocent - The Sex Pistols
Going down to Liverpool - Katrina and the Waves
Guns of Brixton - The Clash
Richard Hell and the Voidoids
Happy people - Generation X
Revenge - Generation X
English dream - Generation X
I just can’t be happy today - The Damned
I think that sums John up well. And if you don’t like my mix…it ain’t crooner enough for ya…well…In the immortal words John Constantine “P*** off ya bloody w***ers.”
Not offhand, but can I get back to you on that?
Sure, but no pressure or commitment . . . just off hand curious!
The Research Department is on the case!
To piggyback on @TurokSonOfStone1950’s Sympathy for the Devil pick here is Jane’s Addiction covering that song.
Janes Addiction - Sympathy
Thinking about crooners, Greg Graffin from Bad Religion came to mind. He might not exactly be a crooner but I can imagine John Constantine listening to Bad Religion.
Bad Religion - Faith Alone
Then I started to think about one of my favorite crooners and Tom Waits came to mind. I can picture John Constantine in an empty bar with this song being played.
Tom Waits - Warm Beer and Cold Woman
This has probably been highlighted already, and if so, I apologize for the repetition, but when I think “crooner”, I just can’t help but think of 'Ol Blue Eyes, and this tune:
I know John would dig Sinatra (because Sinatra is badass, of course).
Conversely, Mr. Constantine might laugh at this :
Then again, maybe John digs the Bizkit.
Okay, I know this is three years late, but this is a KILLER bunch of songs. The Damned and The Voidoids are SUPER underrated.
Also, because I’m reading Hellblazer:
That’s Entertainment By The Jam
Yes Sir, No Sir by The Kinks
The Guns Of Brixton by The Clash
I’m making a Hellblazer-inspired playlist to accompany my reading!
