I think Cass would like to read poetry

Here is a dark tale of Camelot

Exquisitely sung
With Incredible Rhyming

ā€œThe Lady Of Shalottā€

On either side of the river lie
Long fields of barley and of rye,
That clothe the world and meet the sky;
And throā€™ the field the road run by
To many-towered Camelot;
And up and down the people go,
Gazing where the lilies blow
Round an island there below,
The island of Shalott.

Willows whiten, aspens quiver,
Little breezes dusk and shiver
Throā€™ the wave that runs for ever
By the island in the river
Flowing down to Camelot.
Four grey walls, and four grey towers,
Overlook a space of flowers,
And the silent isle imbowers
The Lady of Shalott.

Only reapers, reaping early,
In among the bearded barley
Hear a song that echoes cheerly
From the river winding clearly
Down to towerā€™d Camelot;
And by the moon the reaper weary,
Piling sheaves in uplands airy,
Listening, whispers ā€œ'tis the fairy
The Lady of Shalott.ā€

There she weaves by night and day
A magic web with colours gay,
She has heard a whisper say,
A curse is on her if she stay
To look down to Camelot.
She knows not what the curse may be,
And so she weaveth steadily,
And little other care hath she,
The Lady of Shalott.

And moving through a mirror clear
That hangs before her all the year,
Shadows of the world appear.
There she sees the highway near
Winding down to Camelot;
And sometimes throā€™ the mirror blue
The Knights come riding two and two.
She hath no loyal Knight and true,
The Lady Of Shalott.

But in her web she still delights
To weave the mirrorā€™s magic sights,
For often throā€™ the silent nights
A funeral, with plumes and lights
And music, went to Camelot;
Or when the Moon was overhead,
Came two young lovers lately wed.
ā€œI am half sick of shadows,ā€ said
The Lady Of Shalott.

A bow-shot from her bower-eaves,
He rode between the barley sheaves,
The sun came dazzling throā€™ the leaves,
And flamed upon the brazen greaves
Of bold Sir Lancelot.
A red-cross knight for ever kneelā€™d
To a lady in his shield,
That sparkled on the yellow field,
Beside remote Shalott.

His broad clear brow in sunlight glowā€™d;
On burnishā€™d hooves his war-horse trode;
From underneath his helmet flowā€™d
His coal-black curls as on he rode,
As he rode back to Camelot.
From the bank and from the river
He flashed into the crystal mirror,
ā€œTirra Lirra,ā€ by the river
Sang Sir Lancelot.

She left the web, she left the loom,
She made three paces taroā€™ the room,
She saw the water-lily bloom,
She saw the helmet and the plume,
She looked down to Camelot.
Out flew the web and floated wide;
The mirror cracked from side to side;
ā€œThe curse is come upon me,ā€ cried
The Lady of Shalott.

In the stormy east-wind straining,
The pale yellow woods were waning,
The broad stream in his banks complaining.
Heavily the low sky raining
Over towered Camelot;
Down she came and found a boat
Beneath a willow left afloat,
And round about the prow she wrote
The Lady of Shalott

And down the riverā€™s dim expanse
Like some bold seer in a trance,
Seeing all his own mischance -
With a glassy countenance
Did she look to Camelot.
And at the closing of the day
She loosed the chain and down she lay;
The broad stream bore her far away,
The Lady of Shalott.

Heard a carol, mournful, holy,
Chanted loudly, chanted lowly,
Till her blood was frozen slowly,
And her eyes were darkened wholly,
Turnā€™d to towered Camelot.
For ere she reachā€™d upon the tide
The first house by the water-side,
Singing in her song she died,
The Lady of Shalott.

Under tower and balcony,
By garden-wall and gallery,
A gleaming shape she floated by,
Dead-pale between the houses high,
Silent into Camelot.
Out upon the wharfs they came,
Knight and Burgher, Lord and Dame,
And round the prow they read her name,
The Lady of Shalott.

Who is this? And what is here?
And in the lighted palace near
Died the sound of royal cheer;
And they crossed themselves for fear,
All the Knights at Camelot;
But Lancelot mused a little space
He said, ā€œShe has a lovely face;
God in his mercy lend her grace,
The Lady of Shalott.ā€

Ooooh, I was just topping off my cart for the final Bandcamp Friday! I have a new favorite Hungarian post-rock band, now, thanks!

Haha, Iā€™m subscribed to them too and this just dropped!

You should also subscribe to all their other projects (Silent Hill, Ephilexia, Musicformessier, Realm of Wolvesā€¦ etc.) Check the BC pages.

Hereā€™s a good one from their Silent Island project. I dedicate this to Starro! Nothing to do with Cassieā€¦ :laughing:

Oh! Well, Iā€™ll just take that as validation, then. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ahhhh, nice. Now I get it. Their bundles were confusing the hell out of me with the different bands involved.

Sweetness. I picked up the Black Hill Maze in the dark forest / The buffaloes will never die / Tales of the night forest bundle, but now if I add just the one off The curse of Coleodeia it includes a 30% forever discount. That Starro sure knows how to ensnare the masses.

Thatā€™s also such a good album!

Sorry, Iā€™ll stop gushing now :laughing:

Found one more. Not entirely sure it fits Cassandraā€™s storyline but I forgot how much I love this song.

Lyrics

The Old Ways
Loreena McKennitt

The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home unto you

On a dark new yearā€™s night
On the west coast of Clare
I heard your voice singing
Your eyes danced the song
Your hands played the tune
Tā€™was a vision before me

We left the music behind and the dance carried on
As we stole away to the seashore
And smelt the brine, felt the wind in our hair
And with sadness you paused

Suddenly I knew that youā€™d have to go
Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so
Yet it was there I felt the crossroads of time
And I wondered why

As we cast our gaze on the tumbling sea
A vision came oā€™er me
Of thundering hooves and beating wings
In clouds above

Turning to go I heard you call my name
Like a bird in a cage spreading its wings to fly
ā€œThe old ways are lost,ā€ you sang as you flew
And I wondered why

The thundering waves are calling me home unto you
The pounding sea is calling me home unto to you

Danteā€™s Prayer
Loreena McKennitt

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and fire

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
Weā€™ll rise above these earthly cares

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me
Please remember me

I wonder if the insurance company for Stone Temple Pilots has a weird policy regarding their lead singer. Scott Weiland and Chester B have both passed away. There is another singer now but I am not sure who it is.
