🎶 Mixtape Monday: Applejack 🎶

It's Monday once again, which means one thing-Garfield is unhappy. Also, Mixtape Monday is back. Last week, we took a bite at putting together a playlist that King Shark would love to devour:
King Shark Week Playlist
  • “Hungry Sharks Eat Teen Surfers”, by Moms I’d Like to Surf
  • “Tiger Shark”, by Hawaiian Islanders
  • “Fast as a Shark”, by Accept
  • “Seek & Destroy”, by Metallica
  • “C’mon and Swim, Pt. 1”, by Bobby Freeman
  • “C’mon and Swim, Pt. 2”, by Bobby Freeman
  • “Theme from Jaws”, by John Williams
  • “Shark Week”, by Silent Planet
  • “My Own Summer”, by Deftones
  • “Rock the Boat”, by The Hues Corporation
  • “Fins”, by Jimmy Buffett
  • “The Choral Sea”, by Split Enz
  • “Shark Attack”, by The Wailing Souls
  • “Sharks Patrol These Waters”, by Morphine
  • “Heartbreak Hotel”, by Elvis Presley
  • “The Thing That Should Not Be”, by Metallica
  • “Baby Shark”
  • “Mr. Jaws”, by Dickie Goodman

For this week’s playlist, rather than focusing on a fictional hero or villain, we’re honoring a real superhero (literally, it was her clearance level and everything)-Applejack! By now, she’s no doubt settling in comfortably with the rest of the great minds of our generation on an island in the Pacific, working to bring about world peace by creating a giant squid monster. She’ll no doubt need a playlist to listen to while she does that, so let’s put one together!

I’ll start things off with a song featured in one of my all-time favorite movies:

Due to the high volume of submissions and the limited number of hours in a day, we’ll be selecting two songs from each member, but feel free to share as many as you like!

:headphones: Curious what Mixtape Monday is? :headphones:
Every week, we’ll post the title of our latest Mixtape, and you post tracks of your choice in the comments below! We’ll follow up next Mixtape Monday with the list of tunes, two from each user, collected from the week before. And if our “What’s the Last Song You Heard?” thread is any indication, you all have superb taste in tunes!

For our hardcore music lovers, we suggest joining Inky’s Mixtape Mob , a group created to bring all music lovers together in one place. Joining Inky’s Mixtape Mob will make sure you get notified of every playlist update, as well as offer you a custom flair and title to show off your maestro-dom!

While lyrics must abide to Forum Guidelines , the songs can be anything, of any genre, as long as it meets each week’s theme!

And apologies to any Wicked fans, but I honestly think this version is better than the original even though I’ve never seen Glee. Sorry :man_shrugging:

How about some Star Trek music? @Applejack digs Trek, afterall.

AJ, IDK what your fav Trek stuff is offhand, so I’m just going to post an assorted mix of stuff at random that would be rad to listen to while vacationing on Risa:

The opening title music of Star Trek III is a favorite of mine. Horner’s score for III completely outdoes his work on The Wrath of Khan (which is also magnificent).

The opening theme to Voyager. If there’s a piece of Star Trek music that best embodies you @Applejack, I feel it’s this theme. :point_down:t2:

Non-Trek tuneage…

Super music for a super girl…Jerry Goldsmith’s Supergirl theme.

From the final scene of one of the greatest movies of all time. Apropos for one journey ending while another begins.

IDK if you dig Gundam AJ, but this is an all-time fav of mine.

Thanks to @CynicalPink for the head’s up on this…

Gundam Wing opening V2

Finally, from the Anime of Animes…

Not music, but a little Kevin Smith is always welcome.

I am shocked that you’re discussing Star Trek music and left out Riker!

That is surprising, especially since I (kind of) look like him (when I have a beard, that is). You’d think I would have channeled my spirit TNG character…

Right now, I look like season 1 Riker, but with glasses.

To think I almost ran into you back in 2006,
Oh wait that was the real Riker, nevermind!

I practiced my Riker voice as a kid with the Galoob and Playmates Riker figures to an exacting degree, so…who knows (besides The Shadow)? Maybe you did run into me. :smirk:

Nah it was a real Riker, on August 18 2006 Hilton hotel, I left a big convention room, while thinking what to do next, this lady went (rudly) right in front of me holding both of her arm up to stop me, before I said anything, I see Jonathan Franke walk by as he was talking to the reporter with a huge mohawk, my jaws must have drop, I just stood frozen as he walk by, the lady was a bodyguard, she glare at me and walk away!:slightly_smiling_face:

In honor of @Applejack’s love of all things feline, here’s an appropriate song:

Al Stewart - Year of the Cat (Official Audio) - YouTube

As a chaser, I think she’d probably get a kick out of this little SNL skit:

Was the guy with the mohawk the jerk with the loud radio from Star Trek IV (actor/producer Kirk Thatcher)? :joy: “Would you mind turning off that damn noise?”

Sounds like that woman was a Cardassian in disguise. Cardassians get snooty like that, from time to time. Always remember, there are four lights.

I met Frakes and Marina Sirtis in the mid-'90s at a Trek con. Cool pair.

I wrote these words to tell you all the things I should’ve said so long ago
So long ago
Know that I am grateful I will not forget or let your memory go
No, I won’t
I waited way too long, way too long

I know this life’s a mystery, we lose the things we never can replace
No
So many things we keep inside are never said until it’s much too late
Oh, so I’m giving you this song

For the ones who sacrifice it all, we will sing
Who took a stand so we would never fall, we will sing
You will always be a hero, we will sing so you will be remembered
You will be remembered

I know you’ve suffered way too much, I know you gave your all for us to be
Oh, I see
I know how much you’ve sacrificed and all of this you did so selflessly
Oh, so I’m giving you this song
I’m giving you this song

For the ones who sacrifice it all, we will sing
Who took a stand so we would never fall, we will sing
You will always be a hero, we will sing

You’ll be remembered, you’re still alive
Your memory will survive
And in the end, all your sacrifice
It made a difference this time

So I’m giving you this song
And I’m giving you this song

For the ones who sacrificed it all, we will sing
Who took a stand so we would never fall, we will sing
You will always be a hero, we will sing
So you will be remembered

So you will be remembered

Ah, a playlist for Applejack… :star_struck: :00_batgirl:

Well… Looks like there will be a lot of honorable mention tunes… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Before those though… Here is what I thought about.

First, this tune… For Applejack’s input into our fine community. :superhero: :0_batgirl:

Populating with Super Mods and Super people.

Next… Would be this tune. For going above and beyond when faced with being… Under Pressure. :joy:

And so… As honorable mentions… These… :musical_note: :cat:

When remembering the Watch-Along Applejack hosted… :doom_patrol_club:

Since Swamp Thing is close to Applejack… :00_swamp_thing:

For the Batman/Batman Returns Bingo Marathon. :batman:

For the DC Fandome Marathon. :dc:

For the special Hocus Pocus Watch-Along… :woman_mage:

And of course… For Applejack’s Office… :joy_cat:

I believe I’ve shared this song in another MTM… but I feel it’s relevant for this week as well:

“Time & Confusion”, by Anberlin

And there’s been several “classical” or theme songs shared, so here’s this one:
“Wind Guide You”, by Jeremy Soule (from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)
