Nope. The one above is different than the ones on the exclusive Club private messaging …members only doncha know?
Why is it? I don’t know, but I never cared who the Dark Man was. Sort of put a Damper on the whole story for me. But I did love seeing the Fatal Five (One of my fav Legion Villain groups). Also … … from the scene below — Is my Timber Wolf turning into a Sacredy Cat?!!
I think poor Brin was on his path to Fuzzball at this point. He’d lose Ayla, and go all furry — I Blame the Dark Man of course! ( I mean,… who wouldn’t!!!)
The Legion (2001-) #7 (April 2002)
Poor Kinetix, She’d never be the same again. The writers of this book of the Legion seemed to be beginning a bit of a trend. If the Character wasn’t “popular” enough, then they needed to be addressed by either killing them off, converting them into a monster, or some other form of sacrilege, Used to be they just left them out until the fans clamored for a story with them again, Eventually, ironically enough, their solution was to bring Superboy back into the book. I still miss the vivacious and (not lobotomized) Kinetix!
Edit: I failed to realize that I’d posted the same image as JimbiFett until after I went back and reviewed the Thread. Just happy that we both recognized what was important in that issue, eh
Indeed! On one hand, this was the one time in the DnA run that acknowledged some kind of relationship between Vi & Zoe from the previous run. On the other, they kind of lobotomized Zoe (EDIT - for the second time!), which is a shame because they obviously were able to ‘get’ her voice based on the prior issues and Legion World. Then Geoff Johns completely offs her in Lo3W, a sin I will personally never forgive him for.
They also used the same tactic on poor Monstress in Legion Lost. Both were characters specific to the reboot, so I’m not sure if that was some kind of angry editorial decision. I mean seriously, if the writer “doesn’t like” an existing character, just sideline them for goodness sake. Or make their deaths count for something. I don’t think either one really did on the page.
At least both Kinetix and Monstress show up in the JLU Infinitus story. So, sorry, Geoff, you can’t keep good women down.
Yeah, well first Thunder was written out before they came on board, But they also did a number on Element Lad, changing him to the Progenitor — AND then again they messed up Garth, sticking him inside Jan’s corpse! Those guys! Those guys!
Couldn’t agree more @JimboFett !!!
Oh … … … And Poor Sensor!
Yeah, Thunder was a flash in a pan, wasn’t she? (Pun kind of intended)
It’s almost like TPTB in the 2000s had something against the reboot - They kill off Monstress, Jan, stick Garth in Jan’s body, then in Lo3W kill Kinetix and eliminate the Reboot’s universe altogether. The other two Legions didn’t have close to the amount of sacrifice!
WTF?
Maybe he was afraid he would go feral and bite everybody lol.
That is a poster-worthy two-page spread in my opinion. What do you think @MisfitCMJ ? We all know you go into your Scrooge McDuck comic book Vault every night and sleep on a pile of Bronze Age comics lol…
It’s so true that with a rostrum as large as Legion’s, why not simply hide the characters you don’t care for for a couple of years and bring them back when you come up with a great compelling reason to.
… ignore the characters you don’t like or just have them go run the Legion Academy LOL
At this point, Gerry Conway was trying to give the Legionaires “distictive” personalities that did always make sense. So Timber Wolf gets to be a deep-thinking, but somehow feral loner.
Is that Jimmy Janes and Dave Hunt? If it’s Joe Staton, Dave went all Jack Abel on him…
It kinda looks like Ayla is trying to figure out what funky dance moves Brin is throwing down.
Jimmy Janes and Frank Chiaramonte
