[Lantern Corps] New Frontier - Week 6 [8/23 - 8/30]

Greetings @LanternCorps!

We’re reading through New Frontier. Since these issues are pretty long (like, almost 70 pages) we’re only doing 1 issue a week. Please avoid spoiling anything from issues beyond this week. If you missed last week, you can check it out here

This week’s issue is:

Feel free to use any, all, or none of the questions below as discussion starters.

  1. How did you like the series?
  2. Was anything surprising to see?
  3. Would you rather be at the Centre or the base during the battle?

I liked this series a lot! Good to see Hal embrace the ring and be supported by the Guardians. Loved seeing Barry and J’onn both do their part as well. Superman’s reunion with Lois made me year up. It was cool to see the Justice League fight Starro at the end.

It was great. Loved the various origin stories. Was also nice to see all the storylines come together when the Centre finally showed up.

The gathering of the magic heroes was odd, especially with their agreement to stand by and do nothing. Didn’t expect the defeated dino-scout to blast into a bunch of smaller guys. And the trippy flight through the Centre was unexpected.

The base. More heroes to protect and wouldn’t be so close to the flying island of demons and brain-hijacking.

I loved it. I’m not usually a team book person but this series spent enough time on each character so that it all made sense. It’s funny because the last chapter focuses on Hal’s will. But the epilogue focuses on hope for the future. I thought it was a fun contrast to the other colors of the rings that this series doesn’t touch on.

Adam Strange and Ray Palmer teaming up. The middle of the Centre. Superman and Aquaman at the end. Wonder Woman saving Jimmy.
There were actually a ton of surprises in this one.

The base. I guess it depends on what I was doing but the base seemed to have a higher rate of survival.

One little moment I loved was when Hal dropped the pilot (whose name I just forgot) into the ocean and told him to say his to the water recovery boys. It was a great two reaction panels. I loved it.

Edit: I forgot to say that I loved seeing Billy and Zatanna. It was a nice touch.
