I want to read the story “Black Mirror”, but are there any other stories I should know about that has James Gordon Jr. as a character?
Someone will correct me if im wrong, but I don’t believe so. Black mirror is awesome, you are in for a treat.
Batman: Year One, and…Batman: Year One.
Yeah, what Knox said. Junior basically vanished after Year One. One of the Loeb/Sale Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Specials explained where Barbara (the younger Batgirl/Oracle one, not Jim’s first wife) came from, but Black Mirror was the first story to actually address where James Jr. went.
There’s also the second Legends of the Dark Knight annual, where Flass returns and abducts Jim Jr. right as Jim Sr. is about to marry Sarah, but that story (by Dennis O’Neil) has been essentially forgotten, and no one has bothered to digitize it.
It would seem I’ve been out-obscure-Batman-story-knowledge’d.
I’m not sure if Denny even remembers that one by this point.
He reappeared in the new 52 Batgirl series (leading into Death of the Family and the next arc) and showed up in the recent Batgirl run by Scott. I think he popped up in The Batman Who Laughs mini series too, but I’m not sure.
You’re in for a treat. My number #1 Batman story.
That’s accurate and relevant, but just for clarity: Those appearances are after The Black Mirror.
He does appear in the recent Batman Who Laughs mini. It’s actually by the creative team of Black Mirror, and a worthy read, if you ask me.
Black Mirror is the best Batman story, me and @capo-mage are massive fans of it. Sadly James Jr only appears in Year One and you could make the case Night Cries, but that’s a really weird graphic novel.
