Because I’ve got the main TPB of Metal but none of the tie-ins or anything, and I’ll probably get the one-shots collection, but I don’t know if I should get the other or not.

I mean, it helps but its not necessary. I read Dark: Nights first and then went backward.

I’d say so, but I read everything Metal as it came out so maybe I’m biased.
You may as well give 'em a read since they’re here. Doesn’t hurt

Not necessary, but does lay some foundation for the main books. I really enjoyed reading those issues as well. I had quite a few, “Oh! That’s what that was!” moments from reading those older books, some for a second time.
Worth reading and fun. Not absolutely necessary, but you’ll miss out on some fun if you don’t. Imo, anyway.

I read the main story first and knew nothing going in and I still loved that story all the way through. I loved it so much that I picked up the other trades. They just gave me background and a better understanding of the whole tho f but if you have the main story, don’t wait to read it cause it is too good to not read ASAP
