I find it compelling when “villains” have a little more depth. Lex Luthor is Bruce Wayne minus the parent murders. Well they’re not defining at least, I think in Blackest Night they hint at his negligence caused his father’s early demise.
That’s why I like him as futurist, not just a scientist in a lab. All the sheep of Metropolis line up to kiss Superman’s boots and Lex is one of the ones who recognizes the existential threat he represents. I struggle to see motivation once it’s on the big screen, in the comics I’m like “oh yeah he’s a bad guy doing bad guy things” makes sense.
