That’s similar to how I’d break it down, but I’d probably combine the last two to keep things neat. Otherwise, I’d be tempted to place another break around the year 2000, when there was quite a bit of visual rebranding and a noticeable tonal and stylistic shift in the kind of stories appearing in the Superman and Batman comics. (If we factor in Marvel’s contributions when dividing up the Modern Age, there’s an obvious shift in 2000 thanks to Ultimate Spider-Man.)
As for my own tastes, I’m not a big fan of the Zero Hour era. Infinite Crisis pushed the DC universe back toward my personal preferences.
