This was an interesting story. The idea of an additional branch of the military to deal with non human threats is a good one. Seeing them battle vampires and demons with physical weapons was a nice twist. I also liked the inclusion of Lois Lane and Vicki Vale cameos to help tie them to the rest of the DC universe. Overall, I enjoyed this.

Hey @scoop001, I am glad you liked this one. I am planning on reading this in the very near future but the covers definitely have me excited along with your review.

Read this some years back, and it was pretty good.

I honestly don’t remember much about it offhand, so I suppose a re-read might just be in order…

I really had no idea what I was getting into with Human Defense Corps but I knew there were horror elements. Little did I know that I would witness yet another battle in Hell. This time, I enjoyed the artwork just a bit more.

HDC starts sort of like an X-Files type of thing, notices this was released in 2003 and it checks out. The first few books while they are tied together seem more like one-off type adventures. Then book 3 or 4 everything meshes together and the real story kicks in.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I liked seeing Lois being hit and her being married being mentioned multiple times, I mean would these guys have been hitting on her if they knew who her husband really was? I got a laugh out of the whole exchange and noticed her wedding ring was featured every chance they could.
