Greetings Horror Hounds!

Last week’s journey into Bronze Age horror anthologies was a welcome change and this week we are going to look at another series that will lead to change, in a much different way. On top of that, House of Horror will be adding a slight change in how we do things.

First, @LaserPuff and I want to thank everyone for joining in last week’s conversation. At the time of this writing, I am still reading last week’s books but I did finally catch up on about 100 comics that I have bought and haven’t read. Sheesh, where does the time go?!?!

This week we are going to read a mini-series from Flashpoint! Can you believe it has been 10 years since this massive event? I can’t wait to read this alternate version of Deadman once again. As that miniseries is only 3 books, this was the perfect storm to start something that @LaserPuff and I have talked about doing but never did. This week we saw the first issue of DC Horror Presents: The Conjuring: The Lover 1!!! So, going forward, we will be including new horror series as they arrive on DCUI! Depending on release dates, some of these books may be scattered within the month, depending on our curated selections.

A few new horror comics are hitting comic store shelves this week! We might not be reading the books right away and some of them might even be discussed in other clubs upon release. Think of this as a preview of what might be lurking in the dark corners of House of Horror.

No new horror comics are being added to the DCUI library.

Interesting take on Deadman, Dick Grayson, and Fate in this story. Very sad to see Dick lose his parents still. A Dick Grayson Dr. Fate would definitely be interesting to see. At least Boston didn’t stay a selfish jerk. The Conjuring comic was nicely creepy. Can’t wait to see where it goes next issue.

I have to read the DCUI copy of The Conjuring, did it include the fake advertisements?

I was really worried that those would be taken out for some reason. I do think the first issue was a perfect set up for what is to come and I also really enjoy that there are back stories for the artifacts.

The artists really captured the acrobatics very well.

Nice seeing this vision from the Helmet of Fate… Kind of reminded me a little of when Doctor Fate was in an episode of Smallville with how it looked.
