If you missed a House of Horror event have no fear! Here is a list of every HoH topic! Feel free to jump into the conversation no matter how old the topic is!
When we were thinking up topics @LaserPuff mentioned Supergirl 8 as a possibility for a book for us to read. I loved that idea and the next thing we knew we had an entire topic of Superfamily horror books! Then @LaserPuff had an idea of featuring a new to DCUI book in our topics and once again, I loved that idea and here we are. On top of that, we are going to be featuring new to DCUI books at the bottom of every topic, and keep your eyes peeled for new House of Horror-themed topics in the comic book section featuring these new books!
Be sure to tell us what you think about these books!
If you enjoyed these Superfamily books be sure to check out the Superman Fan Club where they read golden, silver, and bronze Superman stories and even have a listen-along with the classic radio show.
A few new horror comics are hitting comic store shelves this week! We might not be reading the books right away and some of them might even be discussed in other clubs upon release. Think of this as a preview of what might be lurking in the dark corners of House of Horror.
Jumped on the Maid of Medusa Steel story. First, who told the cover artist that Medusa’s head was some kind of snake zoo? She’s not supposed to have every snake species there. Also, am a wrong or is Medusa supposed to be hot, other than the head full of snakes thing? They refer to her as ugly here. Maybe it’s just my head canon that the evil snake head lady is attractive. This story makes zero sense, but it’s fun and we get to see Supergirl twirl muggers around like a tether ball.
I have to say I had mixed feelings on all these books.
The Supergirl issue was a lot of fun. A little romance a little wacky powers. This one was a real treat.
For Superman’s Pal The New Jimmy Olsen book I liked it ok I appreciated that the vampire and wolfman was actually an alien. I wonder if that was a comics code authority dodge. I liked the remote possession of Ms. Conway that was pretty convenient that he didn’t even have to bite her.
For whatever reason I decided to read the backup stories. I’ve never read a newsboy book before so that was new to me. It was extra cheesy, which I’m sure was intentional as I’m sure this book was geared toward kids.
For DC Comics Presents Superman and Madame Xanadu it felt a bit more adult compared to the other two books. Superman dealing with feelings of fear and uncertainty finds help from a psychic. The bad guy is trying to control superman and other people and he has to find his center to confront the bad guy.
I haven’t been able to get around to the Superman Monster book yet but it looks like fun.
I am completely behind this week. I haven’t been able to settle down and read many comics as I have been waiting for word from the place I interviewed with last week. I did get a good phone call yesterday but I now I am refreshing my email like crazy. Still, I am a ball of nerves.
I have been reading a ton. Read all the Last God books, the new horror issues of the week, started reading the John Constantine Hellblazer books, and the issues above.
I should also add, that I picked up The Swamp Thing 3 variant cover and it looks amazing in person. Very rarely am in awe of variant cover art work, I might like it but never in awe, this cover is amazing.
