We have a new Green Lantern title coming, 13 months after the last issue of the last series by Geoff Thorne (and half a year after he was able to wrap things up in the Emerald Knight one shot!) It’s by brilliant Flash writer Jeremy Adams, and art by the phenomenal Xermanico! At the Dawn of DC panel today, they revealed pencils for several pages of the new series, out in May!
Jeremy Adams (The Flash) has reunited with Flashpoint Beyond artist Xermánico for the ongoing Green Lantern series launching this June. Adams showed fans what Hal Jordan is up against as the Guardians of Oa have quarantined Earth! A heartbreaking defeat has sent Hal reeling, returning home to rediscover his roots and find the man responsible for ruining his life: Sinestro. Green Lantern #1 flies into comic shops on May 9.
Also featuring part one of John Stewart: War Journal from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Montos!
What are you excited for in Green Lantern: Dawn of DC? Do you have a favorite cover? I’m planning to get the main covers so far, but that Pete Woods one looks so cute!
Two. I am curious how this series will incorporate the fallout from the previous green lantern book into this new series involving Hal. Guess I’m going have to read it to find out.
While Hal isn’t my favorite GL, I’m looking forward to this series. Will be interesting to see how the fallout of recent GLC events will be addressed, especially since it seems like Hal will be an Earth-based Lantern
I am stoked for this, as I have been wanting just more Green Lantern Corps/ Lantern stories in general. Also pay attention to the new Doom Patrol because looks like I think Jessica Cruz and Guy Gardner are going to be making an apperance in an upcoming issue.
“A Hal Jordan comic written by Jeremy Adams and drawn by Xermanico with a backup written by Philip Kennedy Johnson.” That is the coolest idea I have ever heard of.
I’m very excited for this! Hal is one of my favorite characters. I loved Johns’ run and Venditti’s Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. A lot of the Silver Age was fun too, and Adams seemed to pull a bit of that flavor/energy into his Flash run (so sad that’s ending soon!). I like the idea of getting Hal back on Earth, and it’s great to see Carol as a seemingly main cast member. I think she’s an interesting character both with and without powers.
I’ll be reading the mag on Ultra, but are shops giving out rings, once again?
I remember in the late '00s when my then-regular comic store gave out rings for the assorted Lantern corps in conjunction with Blackest Night, Brightest Day and so on (They gave out buttons for the first issue of each Flashpoint tie-in title, too).
There is this line in the movie North by Northwest that I thought about after reading this issue. In the movie, the main character Roger Thornhill is at one point called a genuine idiot for being a bad bidder and heckler to intentionally cause a scene and get arrested by the police, escaping the criminals chasing him.
I feel that name would perfectly describe Hal Jordan here. Especially when he drove his car straight at Steel Fury.
