I’m looking for a series where it’s about a guy figuring out the world and himself etc where the message isn’t “hurr durr the real villain was climate change/the rich” and there is very little “hurr durr kid r stoopid/no, adultz r stoopid” going on. Is there anything like that in DC?

This is very specific. Coming of age stories featuring a single male character aren’t very common in the superhero world. Especially with the other requirements you listed. Perez/Wolfman on Teen Titans and Peter David’s Young Justice cover the going out into the world and figuring it all out part. The Chuck Dixon run on solo Robin feels pretty close. I definitely can’t think of anything being written presently by DC that fits. Maybe the solo Impulse run would fit.
