👍 Good job to the DC/Zack Snyder movie fans raising a ton of money for suicide prevention ❤️

@Dr.Doom
Sure plenty of people liked it, but, plenty of people didn’t.

As for the realer of the infamous cut, if you wanna talk money about its return, you are looking at 10s of millions (easily) to do the cgi for it. If the fanatics can raise that kind of coin, bully for them. Although I think it unlikely.

As for Rottom Tomatoes, not everybody who saw it posted there. Better to look at the numbers and at a 2.2x ROI, the film was a financial flop or at minimum a poor investment.

IMDB is more reliable then RT. RT rated Venom like 30% while the movie had a mostly popular reception. Also Last Jedi was rated a 92% while most people hated it.

@ Decade lots of people who worked on it including some of the folks who worked on the CGI claim it is finished. IF that is the case and I do understand that is a big if. Then WB would just be waiting for 1 of 2 things to happen either the critical scores have to come up. This can happen over time. From what I understand Empire strikes back was poorly received at release. Now it boasts a 98% critical score. Or 2 enough folks show they are willing to pay money for the film. I understand it would have to be a lot more than what we have now. Should die hard fans continue these types of campaigns eventually it could happen.

Now an important thing to remember is that I am a fan not only of the justice league but a Zack Snyder fan. Try telling Elvis Presley fans that guy wasn’t the king of rock and roll or Superman fans that the Donner film was boring as hell. Or Metallica fans that Megadeth is better.

I will donate some money to this as I am a fan. Worst thing that happens is half my money goes to a good cause. Worse things have happened. I have spent money on dumber things than this.

It’s pretty easy to make the case against Elvis. Bill Haley and the Comets rock around the clock was released 2 months before Elvis’ first single. Elvis is to Rock & Roll what Deep Throat is to porn. The media made both of them relevant because of the public outcry against each of them. Nothing beats free publicity and making something “taboo”.

Elvis fans can disagree with this and keep their opinions, such is their prerogative, but their arguments for, are based on a foundation of sand. That’s not a diss on Elvis or his fans., it’s just historical fact.

@Decade I’m going to have to agree with you on this rock around the clock is a way fun song than beats anything Elvis ever did. IMO

Pretty sure Disney has some pull-say so on Rot Tom. No apologies from me, but I think rotten tomatoes is complete rubbish. Look how highly they rated something like Iron Man 2 and 3. The movies were almost pointless and did little to advance the narrative and story.

@DeSade-acolyte: Little Richard, the Drifters, and other R&B giants preceded every white rocker by years. In the early 50s, “cat” was an admiringly used words about African-American cool dudes. Elvis, pre-recording, hung out on the happenin’ side of town, and his first single was a favorite blues song, Big Boy Crudup’s “That’s all right, Mama,” revved up.

Who do you think showed Elvis how great pink and black look together? The same people from whom he got his music.

And his great success was, in the racist 50s, a way for kids to hear songs, by someone else, by black performers. See: “Cover artists.”

Sooner or later, black artists’ songs were recognized as better, and black performers became inevitably more popular, and things progressed on from there.

Yes, White America was horrified at the very thought of black music, which might make young white people dance, smoke pot, and have a good time. Elvis was SAFE.

“Deep Throat” is another issue, I think.

I wasn’t trying to state that rick & roll started with Bill Haley & the Comets. Only that well known and #1 charting rock & roll records preceded Elvis.

As for Elvis’ influences. Haley & the comets were on Decca. Decca has its fair share of influential musicians, Armstrong, Bassie, Kunz, Billie Holiday, the Ink Spots, the Andrews Sisters, the Dorsey bros.

There was plenty of inspiration and styles around and weren’t all out of Memphis and while many influences came from people of color, some came from whites as well.

I’ll stick by the Elvis is to r&r what DT is to porn. The parallels are quite interesting when dissecting the both of them.
