I mean…technically we make changes to the constitution in real life all the time. As does any democracy. Amendments are the main way that’s accomplished
Of course.
Actually, we don’t have 15 members at the moment, so you’re good for now.
My Bill passed then?
Yep. *Gavel banging. *
Awesome! Now I have to dive right into drafting up a brand new Bill to keep this momentum going!
Can it be a Bill to make Fox News put a disclaimer on screen when they lie?
Mr. Speaker, I put forth the below Bill…
A Bill to Establish Protected Lands for Magic Users & Entities
Section 1: The Protected Magic Lands Act
Section 2: Magic is energy that is used to create or perform something that is or is seemingly impossible. Acts that can be completed with magic include but are not limited to spells, curses, & hexes.
Magic users are individuals who have knowledge and training to perform magical acts.
Magic entities are beings or creatures whose origin or creation are caused by magic. Such entities include but are not limited to vampires, demons, angels, pagan gods, & elemental avatars.
Section 3: This act will establish various protected land areas across the country that are meant to be used only by magic users, beings and members of the magical communities. A lot of magical practices are connected to how the environment is treated and various spells and potions require ingredients that can only be found in nature. The protection of various lands will ensure a balance between various magical grouos and our society by ensuring it remains unexploited by the government and by the private sector.
As a result, US law will not apply to those within said protected lands. The laws of these areas will be determined by those that hold a permanent residence there and are allowed to form their own governing bodies. Said governments will have open negotiation with the US government.
Section 4: The work of identifying which lands will be established as protected magic lands will be funded by the EPA’s regular budget and they will work with former Justice League members Zatanna & Swamp Thing AKA Alec Holland.
Section 5: If any business entity or government official/organization is found guilty of intruding or exploiting these protected lands, they will face a minimum jail sentence of 20 years and/or be forced to pay fines that can go as high as $100 million in US currency.
Section 6: This Bill will go in effect on January 1st 2024
I would like to suggest a new section:
Section 7: Fox News, Newsmax, and Patriot News can’t go after people for the non-existent crime of magic, since magic isn’t a crime.
I’m not sure if the official US Bill format has a section 7
Well damn it.
I’m sorry man.
It’s alright. I’m sad now though.
My “yea” is preliminary because I do have one question. Are all magic users required to stay in the magic areas? And what if a government official is also a magic user? Would they be relieved of duty?
I personally would disagree with both. A magic user in the government could shed insight into a world we know little about. As for the first one, that would be as bad as forcing all LGBTIA+ citizens, like myself, to stay in West California or forcing all black people to stay in places like Harlem, and threatening them if they try to leave. It’s completely unfair and unjust.
To answer your questions:
1 - No. Not all magic users are required to move there. They have the option to visit for any number of reasons or move their permanent residence to and/or from there like anywhere else. Forcing them to move there would turn this act into forced resettlement, an extreme example of instituional discrimination
2 - While it is likely a magic user in this Congress can decide to step down, it would not be a requirement. I am myself a magic user and plan to stick around
Awesome then that’s a yes from me
