Has there been any news as to when apps on streaming platforms will receive Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound for their movie & TV series content?
Seems strange that this isn’t a feature, especially for their original series & their animated features that have Dolby implementation when buying them digitally on services like Vudu, Movies Anywhere, iTunes store etc etc…

I am fairly certain that shows will play in 5.1 on Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. Not e tirely sure about this app, though.
I can indeed tell you that just about everything that is produced and will be shown anywhere gets mixed in at least 5.1 (sometime a 7.1 or Dolby Atmos). But they also have a stereo version made as well. So its atleast possible for 5.1 playback.
