DCAU Complete Cronological List... Sort of

Hello DC Universe Members!

I have compiled my version of the DCAU and would love some feedback.

I know there is multiverse, parallels, other worlds, etc… but… from all the current run movies and shows, I have created the following one timeline. What do you think? Accurate, inaccuracies (a lot of debate/wiggle room due to inconsistencies), open discussion!

Below is the order with the presumed year next to it (if it is a series, only the first year is listed).

Thanks for any feedback.

By the way, thanks for the feedback! This is looking awesome!

As you could tell from my original posting, following Batman animation is my favorite focus for DC, for many reasons including that it is the most populated. In addition, Batman offers something to help with the timeline. Robin is a great basis for which timeline we’re currently in.

Harley and Joker also help a little bit with the idea of whether their together, starting their relationship, have a history, or have broken off.

Less consistent is Barbara, who is an origin story favorite and changes her status from teen to adult to college student and so on.

Also, a helpful tool with aging heroes or stale story line, the many reboots and resets… thanks Flash.

And of course, no one ever truly is gone in the comic book universe. Everyone gets resurrected or replaced in some way… maybe some brain damage can account for characters meeting for the ‘first’ time repeatedly. Too many resurrections… that’s a joke.

Again, there is always going to be a ton of inconsistencies in this timeline, they weren’t meant to be pushed together. But, “it’s only impossible until somebody does it”. Or at least as close as possible.

And now, I have updated the list again! One of the most exciting things about this series is just how much I missed initially. I’m adding both to this list and my watch list as I go!

Interesting placement. I think you mean Teen Titans |2003|?

Where would you put Batman: The Brave and the Bold? Because it includes an episode where Robin becomes Nightwing, I’d place it between Teen Titans and The New Batman Adventures.

Holy guacamole, you’re right! I totally forgot about that series. So, for that one, I’d probably put it after the Teen Titans, but before The New Adventures due to that episode.

Yeah, that was a tricky one, for Teen Titans, Dick Grayson is still Robin… so it would have to be before the end of the New Adventures and before Nightwing… so I assume the year must be mid 90s as opposed to 2003. But, I’m not sure. Thanks!

Now that you’ve got Batman: The Brave and the Bold in there, perhaps you should put Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold right after it.

Uh oh… then… I might have to start the Scooby-verse and gods that’s a mess! Haha.

Let’s go on record as saying this is an INCREDIBLE feat, and thank you so much for sharing this! You’re definitely in good hands with @HubCityQuestion’s feedback

If you ever want some help on the side, feel free to ping the @moderators team to see how we can support ya. :flexmentallo_dp:

Hey, nobody said this would be easy. But I’m happy to help, if I can.

Let’s talk CGI – you have a spot for Beware the Batman, or Green Lantern: The Animated Series?

I’d put Beware the Batman before BTAS, since it seems to predate any Robin joining the team, and Barbara Gordon is younger than she appears later in TAS.

GLTAS, I’d put in before Superman: The Animated Series… if only because it’s about Hal Jordan, and STAS features Kyle’s debut. (And, Sinestro is still a good guy.)

T hanks! @moderator
I would really like to know if there is a way to post a spreadsheet for Discussion. I had to transform it into this monstrosity in order to post the list because the original text would not accept any format I tried to put in.

Thanks again! It took a lot of research! And probably will continue to evolve.

I’m so glad I posted this here. I overlooked the CGIs. I agree with the placement of the Beware the Batman.

I think the Green Lanterns are difficult in general due to Hal and Jon being used so interchangeable throughout the JLA. But that looks like a good spot.

The list got messed up earlier when I tried to update via mobile, but I’ll update it on PC later.

Okay, time to tackle a really tough one… Young Justice.

YJ covers a long time span — 8 years, so far — and contains MANY contradictory details to the animated universe established here. It’s quite overtly its own world and timeline.

Here’s what I’d suggest: put it after Crisis on Two Earths, along with Red Son. That movie introduces the concept of the multiverse (some episodes of Brave and the Bold notwithstanding), and the Young Justice timeline can be said to spring from there.

Yeah, I really had difficulty with the Young Justice placement, so I set it aside and never got back to placing it in the list. But, I definitely like the idea of placing it after the Crisis so that it’s part of the multiverse.

Also, that works, because Young Justice starts in the show in 2010.

Hmm… now what about Harley Quinn? It clearly draws a lot of inspiration from BTAS, and features Brave and the Bold’s Deidrich Bader as Batman, but it also features both Damian Wayne as Robin, and a new origin for Barbara Gordon as Batgirl…

I guess we can say for the sake of this project that this isn’t necessarily Babs’ FIRST time being Batgirl, but a return to it. And it should be after the founding of the Justice League, for sure. After Gotham Girls, then?

Harley Quinn I think would be considered another world thing due to the dramatic personality changes in specific characters, like Damian Wayne and Gordon. But, due to Gordon’s tired behavior and Harley’s status with Joker, I might even put it later.

I kind of want to put it just before Batman and Harley Quinn due to the character being broken off from Joker in BaHQ, Damian’s presence, and Nightwing’s experience. There is clearly history in HQ due to Gordon’s mental status as well, so… how’s that looking?

Thanks! This is great!

I think if you put it after Brave and the bold in an alternate universe that works

Also Superman man of tomorrow is early in Superman’s hero career. Maybe before Superman the animated series

Should Batman beyond and zeta be later since 2040 or since it’s DCAU’s future where it is might work.

Pretty good! This is a fun project. Thanks for accepting my feedback here. You’re the man in charge of course, so I defer to your judgment.

Now, as long as “Chase Me” is on here… we gotta talk DC SHOWCASE.

Some easy ones:

DC Showcase: Jonah Hex takes place a couple years before Gotham by Gaslight.

DC Showcase: Sgt. Rock is set during World War II.

DC Showcase: The Spectre and DC Showcase: Phantom Stranger are both set in the 70s.

Yes, but it’s also implied to be the new reality created at the end of Apokolips War, so it makes sense where it is.
