DC’s 2023 Eisner Award Winners

The winners for the 35th annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were announced last night at the annual ceremony at Comic-Con International: San Diego, with DC winning in every category in which DC received a nomination, with the most amount of wins for a publisher, taking home 8 total awards, including awards for Best Writer, Best Continuing Series, Best Limited Series, Best Single Issue/One-Shot, Best Short Story, Best Penciller/Inker or Team, Best Cover Artist, and Best Coloring.

Impressive! Also really cool that a Nightwing series will now and forevermore be known as an Eisner-award winner. The last time that a non-Vertigo DC title won the Best Continuing Series award was in 2009, for All Star Superman.

Always strange to me there was a time that All-Star Superman qualified as a continuing series.

Good to hear about Kevin Conroy posthumously winning the Short Story award for Finding Batman.

Apparently this isn’t entirely true after all. DC (or at least a couple of letterers who did work for DC) were nominated for Best Lettering, but both lost out to Stan Sakai on Usagi Yojimbo. But still, 8 out of 9 ain’t bad!
