I won’t try to get off-topic, Fox created both Hawkgirl and Black Canary. Both were also originally meant to be sidekicks to some degree. Granted in the case of Black Canary, she became more popular than Johnny Thunder. Still, strong women were something that Gardner Fox seemed to have a knack for, even though the lens of a person in 2022 might not agree with all of the portrayals of these characters. I have read very little of the 60s Hawkman series, not enough to fully comment on it but I just dragged out my copy of Hawkman Archives vol 2 to see the artwork.

I love Grudge Match!
Not only because it was an all-around female-centric episode (and the more of those, the merrier), but because of Roulette.
Grudge Match was my introduction to her, and it made me seek her out in the comics.
I don’t remember the issue # offhand (and its wicked-early, so I’m not yet awake enough to noodle about in our library for the thing), but there’s an issue of JSA that features Roulette on the cover and its a good cover, ya dig? 
Also, I’m generally not romantically interested in women with highly prominent tattoos (I’m certainly very open to exceptions of course, it just depends on what their ink is like), but Roulette rocks her wraparound snake tat very well.
