DC Comic Books With Happy Stories

In the last few days I’ve been reading some Superman Adventures, Batman & Robin Adventures & Batman:Gotham Adventures on DC Universe Infinite.
While recovering from a major surgery, I wanted to read something happy, something that would put smile on my face.
So if anyone is recovering from something or feeling depressed and wanted to read a good happy story, here’s my recommendation.

Ok, that’s it for now, I know there’s more other comic series like Teen Titans Go! (2003) comic series that has alot of good happy story Adventures.
If anybody has a idea what comic series and it’s issues that has a great happy story to read, please feel free to share. :books:
After reading these comics, hope it makes you feel happy. Enjoy reading them!

I love Red Hood and the Outlaws Rebirth Annual #1 where Nightwing gets to team up with the Outlaws. It’s fun and it’s one of their bat bro moments :smiling_face_with_tear:

Superman Red and Blue is one of those positive stories. Not a lot of action but twas a feel good read.

I think generally the TEEN pitched stories tend to be this but even this had some dark aspects, and even the YA novel with Clark in Smallville or the series of YA novels with Lois Lane also has dark elements, although all of these end up with ‘happy endings.’

The Scooby-Doo crossovers are great for feelgood easy-to-digest enjoyment. I’m going through them right now and I’ve kinda fallen into a routine of reading one right before bed to drive away any intrusive stressful thoughts.

I’ve only read a few issues but Tiny Titans is so childish and cute it’s a nice change of pace from the usual dark, edgy stuff.

It was, although it gave a lot of fans some warped ideas about Batman and Gotham, such as Barbara Gordon not having an actual living father and somehow always being at Wayne Manor with all the other loyal child soldiers, and all of them being treated as “one big happy family” by Alfred (with Bruce along to scowl). Wayne Family Adventures hit big precisely because of this.

@TheWifeOfJasonTodd All those are great, the Superman Family Adventures is also the same thing

as is Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam!

@MoukaYuki I actually grabbed all the Scooby Doo self-titled collected digital editions of these when WB had the trades as a free promotion, I think the first 6 volumes, and I’ve yet to read them, but some of the classic Scooby Doo Teams Ups are also this.

I had really enjoyed the Sholly Fisch backups on Morrison’s New 52 Action Comics run featuring Clark in more Slice of Life type stories, so I specifically sought out the issues he had written in other DC titles that featured Superman, such as this one, which was fun and exactly what @Lincolnfan78 is talking about here:

I would second this recommendation. It is often funny and warm-hearted. Just an overall pleasant time. If you are looking for a more positive vibe, I highly recommend. There are a lot of positive comics if you look for them. There is a collection that included “Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth” that is very positive. I believe it was called " World’s Greatest Super-Heroes(Volume 1)" and also includes:

Superman: Peace on Earth (January 1999)
Batman: War on Crime (November 1999)
Shazam!: Power of Hope (November 2000)
Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth (November 2001)
JLA: Secret Origins (January 2003)
JLA: Liberty and Justice (January 2004)

Not sure how many are here.

You can find tons of head canon on social media sites like reddit or tumblr or even people making fan art that show Babs as another one of Bruce’s kids, spending Thanksgiving or Christmas at Stately Wayne Manor as if she didn’t have an actual living father. It’s a very common trope on fan fiction sites as well.

Do people think he’s dead? I think people think he doesn’t exists or don’t connect Commissioner GORDAN with Barbara GORDON, just like they don’t connect Tim Drake with Janet DRAKE, etc. etc. (same for everyone else who wasn’t an orphan).

This is a great idea for a thread! I’m going to have to take some time and find all the issues I can think of to contribute. Finding joyful and happy comics to read are a great mood booster.

Babs is an adult, who doesn’t live with her father/parents, so I never questioned Jim’s presence or lack thereof. He doesn’t “know” about the bat stuff, so his absence from the Batfam holidays just made sense to me. I never took it as him being dead, just working (Gotham gets crazy!). In Wayne Family Adventures, specifically, Babs’ first appearance is with her father, talking about her day. It’s one of my favorite episodes.

Anyway, for fun, light reads I recommend Wayne Family Adventures (Webtoon), Lil’Gotham, Tiny Titans, Super Sons/Adventure of the Super Sons, and DC Superhero Girls.

For some recent ongoing comics that tend to be lighter/happier I recommend Taylor’s Nightwing and Adams’ Flash. Venditti’s Hal Jordan and the GLC is also fun as is his Hawkman series, though both are a little more dense than what this thread is probably wanting.

I’ve only caught WFA when it’s been screen capped elsewhere, so I’ve only seen the same kind of thing I am talking about, Babs interacting and all of them interacting like they are siblings, with Bruce as their parent and Alfred as their grandparent.

I’m not talking about the Commissioner not knowing about them but that there’s no reason for Barbara to spend the night and SLEEP at Wayne Manor, be depicted having a domestic breakfast as if she didn’t have a normal job to go to and celebrating holidays with them as if she didn’t have her own father to celebrate with. Yes, the Commissioner might work Christmas Eve or even Christmas Day. That doesn’t mean a 24 hour work day for those or other holidays or that he wouldn’t take a lunch break or dinner break and want to spend it with his own family, or vice versa.

I don’t want to get into a lengthy back and forth. I’m talking about the fact that prior to things like Batman and Robin and Lil Gotham, the ‘batfam’ wasn’t a trope, or a tag you would see on twitter or other social sites, or fan art sites, much less the extended bat family of members as they were sometimes depicted in the post Rebirth 'Tec series in actual canon. And fans, casual fans who do not read the comics, and only see the isolated images, fan art, and head canon blurbs that people post on their social media, especially when tumblr was really huge, that had an impact - Barbara is a good example, because she has a living father with whom she had a good relationship, so it’s not like she either an orphan or estranged.

But even the fan art and fan fic depictions of Cullen, Harper, Tim, Damian, Bruce, Dick, Babs, Cass, Stephanie, etc. etc. and particularly Jason all coming over to have cookies with Alfred, and sleep overs, and all-night Disney movie watch parties, etc. that isn’t realistic to what the comics show or even the light hearted animated adaptions show.

Teen Titans Go, for example, doesn’t have Dick with any collection of the rest of these people - certainly not as vast as something like Lil Gotham showed - coming by and hanging out with him, or him coming back to Titan Tower after one of those all night Disney Movie Watch Parties, or 20+ people holiday dinners.
