It is widely known that Green Arrow is the most outspoken liberal in DC Comics. Is there a character in DC Comics that would qualify as the most outspoken conservative?
hawkman has always been kind of a right wing jag
Green Lantern Guy Gardener’s been noted to lean to the right.
What about Rorschach? He clearly shows the isolationist side to right-wingers and said that liberals, intellectuals, and smooth - talkers will have nothing to say when the world stands at the brink of bloody hell. Plus, he never compromises, so he has no sense of socialism. Also, by only seeing things in black-and-white, he shows that he sees things in only binary: right or wrong, conservative or liberal.
Hawkman and Green Arrow used to go at it good back in the 70’s JLA when Len Wen was writing the book. Batman was much more conservative back in the day. Also in the 60’s Barry and Hal were portrayed as conservatives. But if these characters leaned to the right the writers had enough sense not to throw it in your face. Their conservativism was more a sense of self and the way they carried themselves. Barry and Hal were not openly campaigning for Goldwater or Nixon. And when push came to shove they did the right thing. In the classic O’Neill/Adams run on GL/GA, the Emerald Archer schools Hal on his “horse blinders” approach to current societal problems. And those relevant, socially aware stories were entertaining and not boring twenty-page treatises. Yes, there was a time when comics could be entertaining and instructional.
