What is your favorite soundtrack or score for any dc movie or show, mine would be the dark knight trilogy, though batman ‘89, superman ‘78 and bvs are also all fantastic
Superman ‘78 by John Williams.
There are alot of good ones, but a few of my favorites are:
-Aquaman
-Batman Beyond
-Batman Forever (score and “music from and inspired by” soundtracks)
-Superman: The Movie
-Wonder Woman
Honorable nominations to The Music of DC Comics volumes one and two.
Shirley Walker’s work on the Batman: The Animated Series soundtrack, as well as Mask of the Phantasm, are at the top of the heap for me.
John Williams Superman for me.
Best soundtrack? Titans or Batman Forever
Best theme or score? 1989 Batman
In no particular order:
- BvS (for all its operatic scope)
- The Dark Knight Rises (it just built so well in the previous two)
- WoWo
- Batman (classic Danny Elfman)
Best DC movie score–best ever MOVIE score–Superman: The Movie by the incomparable John Williams!
I was in high school when I saw it in ‘78. He defined movie music for generations with his score for “Supey Baby” and the one the year before with the farm boy and the princess. Even tho’ I’m a lifelong Batman fan and Danny Elfman’s ‘89 score and Hans Zimmer’s Dark Knight score are both brilliant, I gotta give props to John Williams’ score for Superman: The Movie as the best DC soundtrack. Seriously, if his score didn’t profoundly help Christopher Reeve’s debut film soar, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
