I was thinking about everyones favorite clown prince, and how he is always daring someone to kill him, in some shape or form he thrives on pushing Batman or others to the breaking point.

I think the Joker ( is it The Joker or just Joker ? ) thrives on the attention he gets not from society but from Batman and the Bat Family or at least the O.G Robin(s). I would really enjoy a story be it a one shot or short series, where the Joker is not locked up in Arkham but in Blackgate or in some other supermax facility where maybe we see him try to escape a few times and fails each time to escape, not stopped by Batman or any other superhero but by staff and or the facility itself. An with in the story we see him getting more enraged that not only is he incarcerated and can not have his fun, but he isn’t getting any attention from Batman. And that right there fuels him to keep trying to escape.

And then just to add insult to injury, the Joker does manage to escape, not by some elaborate plan but due to a lack in security by staff being lazy, and he is thusly recaptured by local police rather quickly. and in turn, loses it, being caught by what he feels is beneath him in the world of law enforcement vs heroes.

Also side question.

What is the deal with Joker being so enthralled with Batman?
There has been plenty of stories that have addressed it, but in the end is the Joker just that delusional to think that he is as important to Batman as Batman is important to him?

yes he feels like batman needs him to be batman

Cassandra Cain. More terrifying than a T-Rex.

we are getting joker year one from chip in 2024

I don’t think its some thing we need really

You’re probably right, but I am a little intrigued. Chip Zdarksy seems to be quite knowledgeable in Batman books. Building up his run so far with stories from previous Best runs, so while I’m skeptical of the premise, I am interested to see where he would take his influence from

Killing Joke? Batman year zero? That Tom King Batman storyline from brave and the Bold? I’m hoping it will respect all that like Batman: The Knight did of Batman origins and would similarly be good. Plus it would be interesting to see how this tie-ins with the Three jokers.

maybe he is doing it because of 3 jokers because he didn’t like it much some people don’t or it could be because of the new joker movie coming out

So @storyteller91 what are you’re thoughts about Julia Pennyworth? Besides a pet peeve of mine where Julia is Alfred’s daughter and not her granddaughter I think she’s a really cool character that’s incredibly underrated.

  1. Do you like how she was introduced in the new 52?
  2. Do you consider her part of the Bat-family?
  3. And any ideas where you would like to see her in the future?

yes to all of the above I like her new 52 thing better because I always thought it was creepy for batman to make out with someone I see as his sister and the 80s books were always trying to say it wasn’t creepy because alfred didn’t know about her

I like that she’s a spy and I would be very happy if she showed back up to help Bruce take of his family

While I’m glad we have Oracle, I do miss having Penny-Two around. While it seems understandable after Alfred’s death she wouldn’t want to associate with Batman, I’m hoping we’ll see her again in the future. Having a British super spy on the Bat team could be really fun and Julia does inherent Alfred’s dry wit which I love in any situation.

However more importantly is that you referring to Julia being like a sister to Bruce could be really interesting. Again I don’t like Alfred being characterized as a neglectful father, but I do like the notion of Julia and Bruce trying to be a family, considering Alfred raised Bruce as if he was his own. I think it would be interesting to have them share their loss together rather than have Julia be bitter and forgotten about.

I like to see her close to the Bat-family because given this character background, it could be great to have more of Alfred’s side of the family be shown more often.

well alfred didn’t know about her at all he a neglectful father the women he slept with didn’t tell him which is why I thought it was funny when batman tells alfred he has a daughter
and the way bruce asked if she could stay with them is the same way a little boy asks if he can keep a puppy
come on dc let the man keep his sister
I know Julia says things like you left our family to be a butler its true but he didn’t leave her but thats what her mom told her sweet lady

and as for the first story it was a one night stand

I know james wrote her as being bitter in his joker story but thats only because he forgot to put her in alfeds funereal issue or any others so I would rather a good idea not be ruined because james had a brain fart one day and forgot about her

Thanks. I actually remember first hearing about her in the rebirth Batwoman comic and later again in James Tynion Joker series. The former is probably my favorite because she’s besties with Kate where she’s her tech support, and her unofficial butler. I say unofficial because she’s aware of the irony of a Pennyworth helping yet another brooding bat.

I only dislike that in both series, they oddly have this British special force trained agent needing to be rescue when she gets kidnapped. Worse in Batwoman because she gets taken hostage by Professor Pyg of all people. The worst Batman villain. Ugh!

I’m assuming he was cherry-picking the most familiar Bat family members and keeping the story relevant to the characters that been around longer. That being said, Tynion really undersold the value of other characters as besides Julia, he also forgot to include Cassandra Cain and Duke Thomas in this mourning as well.

Cassandra learned how to speak thanks to the help of Alfred. And for a time when Duke Thomas lived in the mansion, Alfred was there not only to stitch up Duke but also give him much needed advice when he needed. Julia was obviously something that should have been included. While she didn’t know Alfred as close as others in the Bat-family did. Alfred was still her father and I imagine it would have broke her just as bad as it did Bruce. But like you said James Tynion may have simply got brain fart.

it wasn’t me that thought of the brain fart it was comics pop they talk to a lot of the writers it seems like something they in the know on

I should read the batwoman books then I didn’t know she was in it
also I know why bruce sent her to kat its because Julia thinks bruce is naive and he needs her to protect him  she said in one comic I can’t believe dad lets you go out at night on your own I should be with you with my gun it was arkham manor I think
and anyway she’s not wrong sometimes he is naive
