Hey everyone just checking out the community features on here and wanted to show you the costumes I made for my son and I. Let me know what you guys think
The costumes look awesome!
Thank you so much, only had a few weeks to make both of the suit and I’m a single parent that works full time, so a lot of sleepless nights to make my son’s dream come true and for one night at least I got to be his hero, so it was totally worth it
WOW! Those look INCREDIBLE! Fantastic job!
Looks amazing! If I could ask, how did you make the armor?
The armor is EVA foam and used mostly floor mats to make the bat suit. Nothing was painted on the bat suit it was all just the natural color of the floor mats after I heat treated them with a heat gun. The robin armor is foam as well but a good paint job goes a long way and I used automotive paint for it and coated it with a rubber clear coat to keep the paint from cracking. But it’s a fairly easy build, lot of card board for making templates and fresh exacto knife blades, also a wood burner is a must for drawing and burning in the details
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, I’m always my own worst critic and constantly overthinking things. One of my bat suits that I made this one as a replacement for, I kept reworking over and over again because it wasn’t realistic enough, to the point that by the time I had finished it, it was actually bulletproof and I had spent way too much money making it. Later on I started working a construction job and my shoulders and chest got way too big for the suit and i had to rebuild the whole thing all over again, the second time around I thought I’ll just use foam lol
@s_h_davenport.3269, these look absolutely AMAZING! Reading how you made them, I would have never even guessed that’s what the materials were! I’m pretty sure that you are your son’s hero more than for just one night!
@Pretty.Poison.Bombshell thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I hope your right. I try really hard to give him the best life possible
noice
@Adamantine @JeepersItsTheJamags @Batman0803 Thank you honestly I’m still figuring this stuff out and I just figured out how to tag the replies lol
They both turned out absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing the pictures and your process.
@serenap95 thanks and no problem I have more pictures of everything in progress if you every want to see any of them and if anyone ever wants advice on doing this stuff I’m happy to help
Wow, great job. You both look really cool! Now I hope to see a Robin with long hair in the comics.
Also the full suit (excluding the mask because i already had it) only cost about $20 to make and maybe another $25 to make the robin so never think you have to break the bank to make this stuff happen it just takes time and patience and you can achieve anything
@ralphsix thank you, yeah my son has always had long hair and it’s so beautiful I’ve never had the heart to cut it lol. He used to get teased sometimes by the other kids but now they see it as part of who he is. He’s always been such a sweet kid so the teasing didn’t last long because everyone ends up wanting to be his friend and he’s a tough kid so he could handle it. For Halloween this year he was able to wear his suit to school the whole day and now all the other kids think he’s the real life Robin
