2024 Comic Reading Challenge

I don’t really have a goal.

My goal is to read more than 100 times what Jurisdiction reads and make that guy feel miserable.

We already established Robin drills holes in your teeth when your eyes are closed, so I think the answer is yes.

It’s been how long since I’ve actually read a comic book?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: 50 issues from 2006-2010
Writer: John Jackson Miller
Reread for research. This is a good book, though. Zayne Carrick is honestly probably at least a strong candidate for my favorite expanded-universe-original Star Wars character.
137.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – War: 5 issues from 2012
Writer: John Jackson Miller
Same. This, maybe not unsurprisingly, feels a bit like an afterthought, but it has some decent moments.

762 for the year. Way of ahead of what I need per month to make 2,024 (675).

Still finishing up all of the Hellboy I got from a Humble Bundle.

Working my way up through Wonder Woman (1987) yet again. Read all of my Perez omnibuses and War of the Gods omnibus. Had never read a lot of the supporting issues for that crossover. Most were pretty unnecessary.

Other than that, just the usual monthly Marvel, Conan, Red Sonja, Dungeons and Dragons, and Knights of the Dinner Table.

I learned that from Monk.

Had to look him up. According to Batman Wiki, “In his initial storyline, the Monk is a vampire who operates out of a castle in Hungary where he aims at creating an army of werewolf women.”

Oh, and by the way, Happy Cake Day!

He tried to turn my fiance into a vampire, so I killed him with a silver bullet. The only time I can find in the golden age where I used a gun to kill. Technically I did not kill him, as he was undead.

Will definitely keep up with this monthly from here on out. Here’s a quick catch up list of everything I’ve read so far this year.

Superman: Up in The Sky 5-6
Seven Soldiers: Zatanna 1-2
The Immortal Hulk (2018) 1-50
The Incredible Hulk (1962) 1-6
Batgirl (2000) 38-73
Nightwing (2016) 37-41 , 78-113
Animal Man (2011) 1-29
Kraven’s Last Hunt
Justice League Elite (2004) 1-4
Watchmen 1-12 (yeah yeah I hadn’t read Watchmen before this year i know how it sounds)
Shadow of the Batgirl
Action Comics (2011) 1-18
20th Century Men (2022) 1-6
The Green Lantern (2018) 1-12
Green Lantern: Blackstars 1-3
The Green Lantern Season Two 1-4
Batman (1940) 402-403 , 414-432
Twig (2022) 1-5
Klaus (2015) 1-7
Fantastic Four (2022) 1-15
Wonder Woman (2006) 14-44

There’s plenty of ongoings not included in that would make this list run for miles (got about ~30-40 books I read month to month). Some ones I didn’t mention I’d recommend are Poison Ivy, The Immortal Thor, Detective Comics, Ultimate Spider-Man, Green Lantern: War Journal, Transformers, Batman / Superman World’s Finest, Birds of Prey, Rare Flavours, & Petrol Head.

Add everything I mentioned and the stuff I didn’t mention you get… drum roll

454 issues since January 1st 2024
