Another beautiful standout comic is Issue #49 of Batman (The New 52). @EDT has a great thread discussing Scott Snyder’s storyline, where I forgot to mention it as one of my favorites of the series.

Death: The High Cost of Living is still, to this day, what I consider to be Neil Gaiman’s best work. Fantastic Chris Bachalo art, and a sweet, life-affirming story make it standout to me against Gaiman’s otherwise rather bleak comics.
